Spring Is Lurking Somewhere On The Horizon !

Dear Friends, Neighbours and Lovely People All,

So, despite the snowy blasts that keep on coming, spring is lurking somewhere on the horizon ! In the Community Garden there are signs of new life, from our planting of 20 fruit trees and 300 bulbs in November lots of the little snowdrops are now peeking their heads through, which is gratifying and lovely.

We have been awarded further funding from the Langside Area Committee and from a Co-op fund via CDHA (Cathcart and District Housing Association) heralding a bright 2015 for us. We are also very fortunate that through our partnership with Urban Roots we now have Katie and Craig, two sessional workers, on board to help us keep things moving. They have been out and about chatting to people and getting to know people so keep an eye out for them and say hello.

We are planning various sessions and events to get together to chat about the planning and development of the Garden and to get on with actual work in it. We are organising sessions on different days of the week and at different times to try and ensure that everyone can participate at some point, once the clocks change and the light gets longer we will add in some regular evening sessions.  We are also soon going to propose a date for the Lane Clean Up and Improvements so watch out for that !

So, here are some dates for your diary …..

Community Cuppa/Coffee Afternoon:

Monday 02/03/15  @ 1-3pm @ Church of The Pentecost, 1123 Cathcart Road, Mount Florida, G42 9BD: Katie and Craig from Urban Roots will be holding a Coffee Afternoon to meet local people and have a chat about the Community Garden and what you would like to see in it. Please join us ! 🙂

Work sessions:

Mondays from 09/03/15  @ 1-3pm: this will be a regular weekly work session in the Garden

Saturday 14/03/15 @ 10am – 1pm: building and planting raised beds

Sunday 22/03/15 @ 10am – 1pm: building and planting raised beds

Happy Monday all !
